Easy access by car and cheap candy from time to time!

One of the best supermarkets near the Helsinki city centre in terms of selection and availability of different products but maybe a bit pricey.

Today I bought a pack of minced meat from Citymarket in Ruoholahti. It is supposed to be fresh meat , from today. Unfortunately half of the meat has a very dubious color, most likely it is meat which is several days old. Note that the old meat was hidden very well in the pack so one can't see it before opening the pack. Now I have to throw the whole pack.

Large K-City Market (Cross the street from the k market, go left at the s market and so and so on until you reach the multi-level shopping centre full of a bunch of stores that don't matter, a subway sandwich place, a very quiet Alko full of desperate after work wine drinkers) and then you'll see it. If you're new to the Finnish grocery store game here are a few tips: 1. When you walk through the GIANT rotating door at the entrance to the shopping centre, do not stop for any reason, or the whole turning mechanism will halt and everyone will stare at you. 2. Make your stop at the Alko to buy your booze before the store as you don't want to knock over a giant display of Riesling (not that I've done this, but it could happen). 3. You need a small coin to retrieve a reasonably sized grocery cart by inserting it into the slot on the handle. Don't worry, you'll get it back at the end of your trip when you return it. 4. Cast your eyes at the floor or pretend you can neither here nor see when you pass the Telia Cell Phone guys near the entrance (they will harass you). 5. Make sure you weigh and tag your own produce or risk utter scorn from the cashier at check out. 4. Take a number at the Meat/Seafood counter and wait patiently for service, just like everyone else. 5. Make sure to check out the "AASIA," "USA," and "TEX MEX" (whatever that is, c'mon) sections at the back left of the store. If you are from any of these areas, get a sense for what the K-City Management thinks of your food culture. Then grab a bottle of Siracha, a jar of marshmallow fluff and some 'oriental noodles.' and try to keep your feelings to yourself. 6. Forget the Tex Mex section. No, seriously - eating any of the 'tortilla chips' displayed will make you weep with despair. 7. Legit tho, this might be the best selection of weird USA foods I've found in Helsinki. 8. The Finnish word/product closest to 'sour cream' is called 'kermaviili.' It is packaged like a yogurt and lives near the yogurt, but is not, in fact, yogurt. There's my 20 minute search, distilled and passed on to you. You're welcome. 9. There are THREE AISLES OF CANDY. If you like that sort of thing. All the beer in the store is under 5% ABV, and extremely over priced. Better to Alko with you. I'm giving this K-City Market 3 stars on the 'ole google-review-o-rama because its large and in charge and even though the atmosphere is abysmal - you'll probably find most of what you are looking for.

Huge store with great selection, free parking too. Good beer selection. However I would not recommend the prepackaged sushi sets, the fish is good but the rice is not well made.
