::Excellent stop off en route to linnansaari, with everything you need as a camper. Lots of information and equipment available. €20/night/tent which felt a bit pricey.

::Jaa, mikähän paikan fokus on?

::Oravi village is a charming place with lots of nice houses along the channel. The channel is the pulsing heart of Oravi, with a quiet, but continuous flow of every kind of boat found on lake Saimaa, from modern to old steamer. Grab a beer and watch the flow! Luckily there is a Restaurant/Bar with tables overlooking the channel, so you can enjoy a fresh beer or an overpriced meal outside. If the price is not worth for the food it might be fine for the location. 😅 You can also opt for an overpriced pizza too; this year (2018) they are barely ok to an Italian, but every year is different depending on the year kitchen staff (after 18 years I have seen many). In the main building there is also a quite furnished store, also with fresh food. This is great both for people having summer cottages around as well as for people boating around lake Saimaa. Thanks god for it being there, I would hate having to go to Savonlinna for every shopping. In the resort you can also rent a canoe or a sauna or do your laundry. You can also get a ferry or join a guided tour to Linnansaari national park. They also organize kayak guided tours. A great place to stop by or to have as a base to explore the nature and the surroundings, but don’t expect a beach resort or any real night life beyond a beer on the porch.
