Small, almost hidden-away feeling sauna. Cash only (ATM ~100 meters down the hill). Friendly desk service, old ski-lodge magazines and board games in locker room. Had the place to ourselves at 5:00 pm on a Friday in May. Great first sauna experience in Helsinki.

Remarkably feel good sauna at the heart of Hermanni. This venue is genuine 50s Finland from decorating to atmosphere. True piece of history from the golden times when men where made from various boatmaking compounds. Cash only and open mind recommend. You aren't going to find a modern five star sauna spa experience here so don't expect that. This is a traditional public sauna so anyone and everyone can come here. General price isn't expensive (10 Euros) and it's even cheaper for unemployed, students and pensioner which pay only 8 Euros for one time visit. In this sauna you can meet the true people in their honest glory. Something you should consider if you're not into meeting real people. And because this is a traditional Finnish sauna people tend to be naked here. It's totally ok to use e.g. towel to cover yourself if you don't like to show everything but other people will definitely show everything here. This isn't an unisex sauna. There's a sauna for women and a sauna for men. Prices are very reasonable. With 10 Euros you can spend time as much as you want here. Seat cover is included to this price but if you want a towel it will be 2 Euro extra. Remember to bring cash money with you because that will be the only accepted payment method here. You can bring your own beverages here but you have to consume them at the locker room facilities which is really enjoyable place to spend time too so this shouldn't be a problem. There's even a small freezer for own beverages which is nice. You can also order food and drinks here. They don't have strong alcoholic beverages here but still remarkably good choices. Food is really traditional Finnish food which I also recommend to check. Daily menu is changing all the time. Just ask from the receptionist or look menus on the locker room table. There's a black folder menu in English and in Finnish. Side note related to locker room cabinet locks. Those locks are a bit older design. You have to push and turn the key when you want to lock that door. Opening that door might be also a bit tricky because some doors are tight fit to that small lock cabinet. It takes a little practice before figuring out how to lock and open that door. Be patient and ask help from the receptionist if it gets challenging. Service is grand here. It's understanding and caring yet funny and helpful at the same time. So just tremendous compared to any other similar places. I enjoyed the small anecdotes and details they told when I was cooling after sauna. I truly enjoyed this sauna. It isn't a five star sauna experience from what people might expect when looking for a place to bath and hangout but it's traditional and honest. This sauna is old. It's from the 1950s and everything here gives a hint towards its age. Of course some parts have been changed over time but atmosphere is still remarkably old. This sauna has tremendous electric heater for the stones which you definitely have to throw water on because otherwise you're missing the point of this facility. This place has one of the best electric heated saunas I've been in my life so strongly recommend. If you're looking for true Finnish experience and want to achieve something special without giving out your arm and a leg because those steep prices. Here's a grand place to visit. You can get everything here without remembering where your towel is.

Very positive experience! Affordable (€10 p person) and great local atmosphere. You can bring your own food and drinks or buy them from the reception. Low-alcohol (2.6%) beer is sold for only €2 per 0.33 bottle.
